I am a figurative artist working mainly in three mediums: Oil painting, pastel and charcoal.
One of the most interesting things for me is the human form and intuitively capturing emotions expressed by the body language of my subjects.
My work is a fusion of me, a time and a subject. The energy is stored in the detail and demands to be studied. If it communicates anything to people and they recognize the value in my work then I am happy.
Since Sahaja Yoga, I am now in thoughtless awareness when I am creating my artwork: I just am the spirit.
I lived in England most of my childhood and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art London, where I obtained a BA hons degree.
I had various exhibitions in London.
As an artist, one of the most exciting times I’ve experienced was during the eighties, when I was invited to exhibit some of my work in the Soviet Union; it was in the spirit of Glasnost, during the period of Perestroika when cultural exchanges were being used to forge links between the east and the west. I was chosen as part of a group exhibition to go to Moscow to open the exhibition of British artwork, which was to travel to the four corners of the Soviet Union. During my time there I gained a real insight into the life of a Russian artist.
When I came out to Australia I felt strong roots here on this land.
The dream was to live in the bush and we found this beautiful place, a pure flowing creek and such wonderful wildlife on our doorstep: We live so close to nature in our cabin and have a very organic life.
It’s interesting how life works out, I lived in Holland Park, London for many years and Shri Mataji was right there, but it wasn’t until I came to the land of Ganesha and to my roots, here in the bush that I found Sahaja.
I have been teaching painting and drawing for many years, in London Collages and Sydney Collages of Fine Art.
When I moved to the bush, I set up life drawing and portraiture in the Taree area.
I have now added to this running children’s art classes during the holidays.
